Welcome to 3-4 room!
The 3 – 4 room caters for up to 24 children from approximately 3 years to 4.5 years.
The 3 – 4 years old share a room with Corinthian School nursery which can also cater for up to 26 children. Staff to child ratio is 1 - 8. Integrated care and education is within one room during term time.
There are 5 members of staff Angela, Kate, Nikki and Adelle, All our staff hold relevant childcare qualifications ranging from level 3 to level 4. We also have apprentice Yaz who is working towards her level 2 childcare qualification. The staff's names and roles are displayed on a board in the nursery hallway. All our qualified staff are 1st Aid trained.
Each child is treated as an individual and is assessed as to his/her own capabilities and encouraged to develop at their own pace to reach their true potential.
They are introduced to the world of Information Technology by using the white board and quickly become skilled at finding their way around the computer.
Before your child starts at nursery you will be invited to come in for induction visits. We believe these visits are extremely important and we encourage you to visit as often as you wish. This gives you the opportunity to meet all the staff, spend time within the room and ask any questions you may have. The lead practitioner will introduce you to your child's key person during these visits and they will spend time with you and your child getting to know your needs.
Your child's key person is primarily responsible for ensuring your child's needs are met throughout the day whilst planning activities that stimulate and interest your child. They will spend time settling your child into nursery life helping them to become familiar with the setting and to feel confident and safe within it.
The children have a safe secure outdoor play area which is accessed directly from the 3 -4 room. The children have access to this throughout the whole day. This provides an opportunity for the children to easily access the outdoor area and get fresh air daily. The children have a range of equipment in their area including a climbing frame, sandpit, balancing beams and big building blocks.
The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which promotes positive relationships in a stimulating environment. Daily activities take place within the room for all children and your child's key person plans individual activities for your child after observing them and finding out their interests. The room and your child's planning is displayed on the wall in each room for you to view at any time. The curriculum is planned, delivered and evaluated to ensure that the children receive interesting and relevant experiences and knowledge to help them get ready for the transition to school
Your child’s key person will build up a learning journey on your child. This is done through photographs, observations and regular planning. Photographs and observations are all completed on iPads and iPods and can be emailed to you through a system we use called tapestry. That way you can see exactly where your child is up to and what they’ve been doing in nursery. Upon visiting the nursery we can give you more information on this system we use.
The room has different areas including role play, creative, ICT and construction.
Daily activities include circle time, messy play, outdoor play, art activities and baking.
