There are 6 members of staff in this room, Debbie Jones, Laura Bramwell, Hannah Kenwright Janet Roskell (Mon-Wed), Penny Spencer (Wed-Fri) all our staff have relevant childcare qualifications ranging from level 3 to degree level. We also have 1 apprentice Jessica Fisher who currently working towards her level 2 childcare qualification. All our qualified staff are 1st Aid trained.
Independence is promoted; children in this room are introduced to potty/toilet training in conjunction with the wishes of the parents as well as being taught bathroom hygiene.
Each child is treated as an individual and is assessed as to his/her own capabilities and encouraged to develop at their own pace to reach their true potential.
Before your little one starts nursery you will be invited to come in for induction visits. We believe these visits are extremely important and we encourage you to visit as often as you wish. This gives you the opportunity to meet all the staff, spend time within the room and ask any questions you may have. A lead practitioner will introduce you to your child's key person during these visits and she will spend time with you both getting to know your child’s needs and their routine at home such as your child’s likes and dislikes etc These visits are important as they aid a smooth transition from home to nursery.
Your child's key person is primarily responsible for ensuring your child's needs are met throughout the day whilst planning activities that stimulate and interest your child. They will spend time settling your child into nursery life helping them to become familiar with the setting and to feel confident and safe within it.
Fully equipped room with equipment and resources specially chosen to encourage children's independence. Toys and equipment are all at child level enabling the children to explore their environment and choose what they wish to play with. Daily activities include messy play, baking, painting, singing and sensory play.
The children have a safe and secure outdoor play area which is accessed directly from the 2-3 room. The children have access to this throughout the whole day. This provides an opportunity for the children to easily access the outdoor area and get fresh air daily. The children have a range of equipment in their area including a large play house, a climbing frame, big chalk board, climbing tyres and big building blocks
The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which promotes positive relationships in a stimulating environment. Daily activities take place within the room for all children and your child's key person plans individual activities for your child after observing them and finding out their interests. Your child's planning is displayed on the wall in their room for you to view at any time.
Your child’s key person will build up a learning journey on your child. This is done through photographs, observations and regular planning. Photographs and observations are all completed on iPads and iPods and can be emailed to you through a system we use called tapestry. That way you can see exactly where your child is up to and what they’ve been doing in nursery. Upon visiting the nursery we can give you more information on this system we use.
When your child reaches 3 they will move into the 3 - 4 room. This room provides integrated care and education with Corinthian School. Your child will not automatically get a school place when they turn 3. If you wish your child to attend Corinthian Nursery Class then you need to apply in the main office in Corinthian School.
